Founded in 2023, The HIRMINA PRIZE™ is an international recognition initiative that honours organisations, projects, and initiatives advancing education for sustainability.
At its core, the HIRMINA PRIZE™ is guided by a profound conviction: that education is the cornerstone of sustainable development and a force for inclusive, enduring change. It affirms that meaningful transformation begins with learning—learning that uplifts communities, fosters resilience, and inspires continuity across generations.
The Prize celebrates those who, often quietly and courageously, are shaping more hopeful futures. Whether through a single classroom, a community-led initiative, or a bold new idea, they are advancing sustainability not as a distant aspiration, but as a lived reality rooted in care, creativity, and shared responsibility.
The Hirmina Prize is convened by The FuturED Institute in partnership with the International Green Trade & Commerce Association (IGTCA) – The Green Chamber. Together, these organisations champion access to education, technological innovation, scientific research, and sustainable development as interconnected pillars of global progress.
More than an award, the HIRMINA PRIZE™ is a platform for visibility, mentorship, and cross-sectoral collaboration. It seeks to amplify the voices of those working at the intersection of learning and sustainability—especially in contexts where resources are limited but imagination and commitment are boundless.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Agenda 2030, the Prize recognises that meaningful change often begins with small, courageous steps. It honours those who dare to reimagine education not as a privilege, but as a shared responsibility and a force for planetary wellbeing.
Each year, the Prize is awarded during the International Gala “Education for Sustainability,” held in London, United Kingdom. This annual gathering brings together educators, innovators, diplomats, and institutional leaders from around the world to celebrate the power of education to shape a more just and sustainable future.
