During a recent visit to Quito, The FuturED Institute and CEDIA, the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia, held a meeting to strengthen dialogue and explore opportunities for collaboration in higher education, research, innovation and internationalisation.

The meeting was held with Carolina Bolaños Rodríguez, Head of Interinstitutional Relations and Internationalisation at CEDIA, and her team. Discussions focused on the complementary strengths of both organisations and the potential to develop joint initiatives that support universities, researchers and academic communities in Ecuador and internationally.

CEDIA plays a leading role in Ecuador’s higher education and research ecosystem, promoting collaboration, innovation and technological development among universities and academic institutions. The FuturED Institute, an international higher education think tank based in the United Kingdom, works with universities, governments and organisations across multiple countries to advance academic innovation, internationalisation, capacity building and sustainable development through education.

During the meeting, both institutions explored how The FuturED Institute could contribute to CEDIA’s international engagement through its global network of academic, institutional and industry partners, while CEDIA could serve as a strategic Ecuadorian partner for The FuturED Institute, strengthening connections with Ecuador’s higher education, research and innovation sectors. Discussions also covered opportunities for collaboration in academic mobility, research projects, professional development, innovation programmes and knowledge exchange.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of both institutions in fostering international cooperation and creating new opportunities that advance higher education, research, and innovation in Ecuador and beyond.
